Bondet was born from a gesture.

On May 1, 1929, in the industrial heartland of Oyonnax, Jules Aimé Bondet crafted his first pieces. At the time, he manufactured combs, eyeglasses, and everyday objects. He didn't know it yet, but he was laying the foundations for an industrial adventure that would span a century.

Jules Aimé Bondet crafted his first frames in 1929, with the patience and meticulousness of a passionate craftsman.
His son Roland, in the 1970s, chose to dedicate his life to eyewear, refining the technique and transforming precision into a signature. Then came Pierre Bondet, Jules' grandson, who modernized the company, innovated internationally, and invented technical solutions that have become iconic.

Today, the new generation continues this adventure: faithful to the founding gesture, they imagine sustainable, bio-sourced and 100% French collections.
Four generations, four visions, but the same commitment: to pass on unique know-how and perpetuate the excellence of the manufacture.

Excellence and
innovation

Since the 1980s, Bondet has been the last French manufacturer to master molded frames, a rare technique that requires patience, meticulousness and consistency.

Each frame, whether optical, sunglasses, or intended for skiing and motorcycling, reflects this expertise perfected over four generations.

The invention of interchangeable lenses for the Slider model by Smith US, produced in more than 3 million units, illustrates our ability to combine technology, comfort and innovation to improve the daily lives of wearers.

In 2018, Bondet relocated all of its production to Oyonnax, asserting that Made in France can once again become accessible.
The Origine France Garantie certification in 2019 formalizes this commitment.

Since 2020, all our materials are bio-sourced, combining performance and responsibility.
